Giving Thanks For Our Troops

On Veterans Day, there were many celebrations to thank our veterans and active-duty troops for their service. This week, as we celebrate Thanksgiving, it gives us the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices our troops are making and give thanks for their dedication. When the special days are over, we should keep in mind that our troops and their families need our support
everyday. With each deployment, many lives are affected. Children miss the excitement of sharing their accomplishments with a parent. Spouses must shoulder double the responsibility and yet still maintain a sense of normalcy for their families. The troops must balance serving their country with trying to maintain contact with their loved ones.

As a military wife and mother of twenty-two years, I know firsthand the stress that a family experiences when a loved one deploys. Husbands and wives, in particular, try to shelter each other from very normal concerns as one of them deploy. What if he or she doesn't return home? Will they be different? Have they shared their hopes and dreams for their children. What are their wishes for care if they return home unable to communicate for themselves?

My goal has been to provide our military personnel with a way to unburden their potential caregivers in the decision-making process as well as to assist them in creating a meaningful life journal for their family. I had created my own journal for my daughters a number of years ago, which I have always referred to as “Love Insurance.”

I am pleased to introduce "Everything About Me, A Guide for My Future Caregivers for Military Personnel and Families." This special guide will, I hope, help each of our troops provide a sense of well-being or "Love Insurance" for their families.

Thanks for supporting our troops and keeping them in your thoughts and prayers.
